Public Safety Leadership Specialization

This doctoral specialization takes public safety leadership to the executive level for those who plan to lead, teach, or consult in the field of public safety. It combines a deep exploration of theories, individual research, and courses that emphasize management skills, such as needs assessment, grant writing, training, and labor relations. Through focused scholarship and peer interactions, develop a higher level of knowledge and reasoning to help advance the growing field of public safety. This specialization is designed for those with a background in law enforcement, fire services, emergency communications, emergency medical services, or other security professions.

This specialization has transitioned from the Doctor of Philosophy in Human Services program to the Doctor of Philosophy in Public Safety program.

Residency Requirements: As a doctoral learner you will attend residential colloquia in addition to your online courses. At specific milestones in your program, you will attend three colloquia, each one week in length. See residential colloquia details.
